What This Role Really Is

This machining role combines CNC and manual responsibilities. Success requires strong machining fundamentals, attention to detail, and adaptability to varied part configurations.

Who Thrives Here (and Who Doesn't)
  • Understand machining fundamentals beyond production
  • Have experience with both CNC and manual operations
  • Take ownership of part quality and machining accuracy
  • Enjoy custom work and solving unique manufacturing challenges
  • Can read blueprints and determine machining approaches independently
  • Comfortable making setup changes and process adjustments
  • Only have experience loading parts and starting cycles
  • Prefer repetitive, high‑volume production machining
  • Avoid troubleshooting or setup responsibilities
  • Have little interest in manual machining operations
What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)
  • Learn ACECO machining standards, workflows, and safety expectations
  • Independently set up and run CNC machines on assigned jobs
  • Make adjustments to maintain tolerances and improve quality
  • Produce parts with minimal rework or scrap
  • Build trust with team through consistency and ownership
Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and machining equipment
  • Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, drill presses, and boring mills
  • Perform machine adjustments, offsets, and tooling changes as needed
  • Select machining methods and sequences based on part requirements
  • Produce precision components that meet blueprint specifications and quality standards
  • Monitor machining operations and verify dimensional accuracy throughout production
  • Read and interpret blueprints to determine machining requirements
  • Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances
  • Select appropriate tooling and understand material behavior (primarily steel)
  • Perform basic tool maintenance and support jig/fixture setup
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
