Essential Functions
  • Manufacturing employees must comply with company safety and security policies, including use of personal protective equipment.
  • Coordinate with supervisor and programmer to insure jobs are set up and running.
  • Read blueprints or job orders for product and job specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, number of parts to be run, tooling instructions, or other written specifications.
  • Set up machine, observe operation, and inspect first run and sample workpieces to ensure machining conforms to specifications.
  • Help other machinists perform and troubleshoot setups and ensure they are running efficiently.
  • Process first‑article inspections and verify conformance to quality standards prior to production runs.
  • Accurately complete work‑order paperwork and documentation.
  • Ensure that work areas are maintained neat and orderly at all times.
  • Assist in training new hires in setup procedures, measurement equipment, production expectations and specifications.
  • Operate equipment and machines as needed.
  • Assist production supervisors in daily activities.
  • Lead shift with minimal to no supervision required.
  • Recognize and identify problem areas and assist with developing solutions.
  • Issue and release work orders.
  • Lead and direct all aspects of the CNC department when supervisor is unavailable.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including health, safety and quality assurance policies.
  • Report injuries, accidents, near‑misses or unsafe conditions to a supervisor or manager immediately.
  • Perform other and/or related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
Experience
  • 2–5 years of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment; 2–5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in basic programming, editing, setup and operation of CNC machines for precision parts with experience on Doosan, Okuma or Swiss machines with Fanuc controls preferred.
  • Ability to set up and edit the G‑code for each part, edit the program, check parts, deburr parts, perform offsets, etc.; Mastercam and/or SolidWorks experience is a plus.
Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; an associate’s degree in a technical discipline or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to pass a basic reading, math, measurement, parts‑matching and counting test.
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret and follow detailed work instructions and manufacturing specifications.
  • Ability to adjust to changes without compromising quality or performance.
  • Must be able to work a shift schedule and overtime as needed, including weekends.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand for the duration of scheduled shift.
  • Ability to manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids or platforms weighing 25–150 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Manual dexterity using hands, fingers and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, lift and hammer.
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing and warehouse environment with multi‑step process production runs on different machines.
  • High‑value, highly customized components, long and large parts, and high‑precision manufacturing for critical service applications.
  • Noise level: moderate to high.
  • Temperature variable with season.
