Job description

NOW HIRING: CNC MACHINIST – 2ND SHIFT (+$5/HR SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL)

Location: 531 Old Swede Road – Douglassville, PA 19518

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 1:30PM–10:00PM | Full-time on-site

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate up to $34/hour based on experience, skills, and market data—top-of-range compensation is reserved for candidates who demonstrate strong, job-relevant experience and independent setup capability + $5/hour shift differential

At American Crane & Equipment Corporation (ACECO), we’re looking for a CNC Machinist to produce custom, low‑volume, high‑value components where precision and setup knowledge matter.

This is a CNC‑focused machining role—you’ll spend most of your time setting up machines, making adjustments, and ensuring parts meet specifications, while being accountable for quality, tolerances, and machining accuracy.

Who Thrives Here (and Who Doesn’t)

You’ll do well here if you:

  • Understand CNC setups, offsets, and machine behavior
  • Take ownership of part quality and machining accuracy
  • Enjoy working on custom, low‑volume parts instead of repetitive production

This role is likely not a fit if you:

  • Only have experience loading parts and pressing cycle start
  • Prefer high‑volume production environments
  • Avoid troubleshooting or machine adjustments
What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)
  • Learn ACECO machining standards, workflows, and safety expectations
  • Independently set up and run CNC machines on assigned jobs
  • Make adjustments to maintain tolerances and improve quality
  • Produce parts with minimal rework or scrap
  • Build trust with team through consistency and ownership
What You’ll Do
CNC Machining & Setup (Primary Focus)
  • Set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision components
  • Make offsets, tool adjustments, and machine corrections
  • Interpret programs and verify machining processes meet specifications
  • Monitor machine performance and ensure consistent quality
Manual Machining Support (Secondary)
  • Operate manual machines such as lathes, mills, drill presses, and boring mills as needed
  • Support jobs requiring both CNC and manual machining techniques
Blueprint Reading & Precision Measurement
  • Read and interpret blueprints to determine machining requirements
  • Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances
Tooling, Materials & Maintenance
  • Select appropriate tooling and understand material behavior (primarily steel)
  • Perform basic tool maintenance and support jig/fixture setup
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
What We’re Looking For
Education
  • High school diploma required
  • Vocational training or machinist certification preferred
Experience
  • 3+ years of CNC machining experience required
  • Experience with machine setup, offsets, and troubleshooting preferred
  • Manual machining experience strongly preferred
Technical Skills
  • Strong blueprint reading and interpretation
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools
  • Solid understanding of machining processes and material properties
  • Basic understanding of G‑code and CNC program structure (editing a plus)
Skills & Attributes
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Ownership mindset and accountability for output
  • Ability to troubleshoot and adjust machines independently
  • Safety‑first mindset in a manufacturing environment
  • Reliable, consistent, and team‑oriented
  • Alignment with ACECO values: Work Hard, Have Fun, and Do the Right Thing
Requirements
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
  • Ability to verify identity and employment authorization (Form I-9)
  • Eligibility to access export‑controlled information where applicable
  • Willingness to undergo a background check in accordance with applicable laws
  • Willingness to undergo a pre‑employment drug screen and randomized drug testing during employment
  • Ability to meet the posted work schedule and required hours
  • Ability to maintain reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Willingness to follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Willingness to wear appropriate PPE when in shop areas
  • Willingness to complete required safety and compliance training
