Job summary

General Motors is seeking qualified Mechanical Journeypersons (Machine Repair) in Indiana. Qualifications

• At least six (6) years of related experience as a Machine Repair or a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Machine Repair trade.
• Must pass GM hiring process including comprehensive assessments, drug testing, and background check.
• Age 18 or older and eligible to work in the United States.
• Willing to work flexible shift hours including day, afternoon or night shifts with overtime, weekends and holidays.
• GM does not provide immigration sponsorship for this role.
• If currently a GM employee under a collective bargaining agreement, contact local HR/LR for opportunities.
• Position may be filled as Journeyperson or Journeyperson In Training, with corresponding pay ranges.

Responsibilities

• Follow established safety procedures per OSHA and company rules.
• Repair and replace mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery.
• Layout, fabricate, maintain, and repair piping systems.
• Operate CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders) to prescribed specs.
• Read blueprints for conveyors, robots, and automation systems.
• Operate mobile equipment like forklifts and cranes.
• Assess and verify part dimensions using calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
