Job summary

General Motors is seeking qualified Mechanical Journeypersons to repair and maintain a wide range of industrial machinery. You will read blueprints, lay out piping, and work with CNC tools to shape components to precise specs.

You may operate forklifts and cranes and be asked to perform rigging, alignment, and routine preventive maintenance. GM offers competitive pay with unionized considerations and an incentive program.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship certificate or 6 years documented mechanical trade experience.
• Eligible to work in the United States and 18+.
• Willing to work flexible shifts including overtime and holidays.
• Must complete GM hiring process including assessments and background check.
• GM does not sponsor immigration for this role.

Responsibilities

• Follow OSHA safety procedures and company policies.
• Maintain, dismantle, repair, and replace mechanical and hydraulic components on industrial machinery.
• Read blueprints for conveyors, automation, and robots.
• Layout, assemble, fabricate, and repair piping systems.
• Operate CNC machines to cut, bore, and finish parts to spec.
• Rig equipment and material for lifting and transport; operate forklifts and cranes.
