Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Journeyman Electrician for a contract-to-hire role in Lansing, MI, working 2nd or 3rd shift in a large automotive manufacturing plant. You will repair, maintain, and improve electrical systems, read blueprints, and ensure 480-volt equipment operates safely.

The role requires a valid Michigan Journeyman license and at least four years of manufacturing experience, with strong troubleshooting and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Requires valid Journeyman Electrician License in the State of Michigan.
• Minimum 4 years of manufacturing experience.
• Minimum 4 years working on facility electrical systems including lighting, building connection points and 480-volt equipment.
• Proficiency in electrical installations and wiring of equipment, fixtures and apparatus.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical systems and components in an industrial setting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and technical docs.
• Solid knowledge of electrical codes, standards and safe work practices.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely for electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures.
• Diagnose malfunctions using test equipment and implement corrective actions.
• Inspect systems to identify hazards and ensure code compliance.
• Advise leadership on safety and viability of equipment operation and maintenance actions.
• Connect wiring to motors and equipment; replace switches and fuses; splice conductors and insulate wiring.
• Read, interpret and work from blueprints and schematics to plan installations and repairs.
• Perform electrical testing on 480-volt systems to verify proper operation and safety.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues in manufacturing and facilities environments including lighting and building points.
• Support installation, assembly and maintenance of electrical systems across the plant.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas; collaborate with production and facilities teams to meet schedules.
• Work as part of a team coordinating with contractors to minimize downtime.
