Austin Industrial is seeking an Ironworker/Fabricator for the Decatur, IL site. The role involves assembling and aligning structural steel, reading blueprints, and coordinating hoisting operations to position girders and columns.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years verifiable iron work experience.
• Must be able to read and interpret simple instructions and blueprints.
• May be required to travel or commute for this position.

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints and selects required material for construction.
• Sets up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.
• Fastens steel members to cable of hoist, using chain, cable or rope.
• Guides structure being lifted into proper position and aligns rivet holes.
• Drives drift pins through rivet holes.
• Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment using plumb bob and level.
• Bolts aligned structures to keep them in position until permanently riveted, bolted or welded into place.
