Austin Industrial is seeking an Ironworker Industrial Journeyman to join our team. This role performs duties to raise, place and unite girders, columns and other structural steel members to form completed structures or framework on industrial sites.

Requires a minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in the Ironworker trade. We offer strong benefits and an employee-owned ESOP structure, with opportunities across oil, gas, energy, and manufacturing projects.

• Fluent English reading, writing and speaking essential.
• Strong mathematical ability for measurements and quantities.
• Good reasoning and problem-solving skills for field adjustments.
• NCCER and Advanced Rigging certifications preferred.
• Travel/commuting may be required depending on site.

• Guides structure being lifted into proper position and aligns rivet holes with corresponding holes.

• Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment using plumb bob and level.
• Bolts aligned structures to keep them in position until permanently riveted, bolted or welded into place.

Ironworker Industrial Journeyman

Summary

Performs duties to raise, place and unite girders, columns and other structural steel members to form completed structures or structure framework. This is accomplished by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. Must have a minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in the Industrial Ironworker craft. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints and selects required material for construction.
• Sets up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.
• Fastens steel members to cable of hoist, using chain, cable or rope.
• Guides structure being lifted into proper position and aligns rivet holes with corresponding holes.
• Drives drift pins through rivet holes.

Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - Depending on the job site, certain certificates or licenses may be required. NCCER and Advanced Rigging Preferred.

Other Qualifications - It may be necessary to travel or commute for this position.
