Job summary

IQ Inc. is hiring a Hardware Design Engineer to own PCB design and MCU integration for rugged industrial hardware in a Pittsburgh-area on-site role. You will collaborate across disciplines to drive concepts to production, with hands-on work in embedded systems, CANBus, RTOS/Linux, and wireless tech.

You will partner with firmware, mechanical, and thermal teams, write specs, build prototypes, and guide DFMEA and validation testing to ensure manufacturability and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in circuit and hardware design.
• Experience with Altium for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Embedded systems experience with RTOS/Linux and coding in C/C++/Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop hardware solutions for rugged, industrial environments.
• Coordinate with firmware, mechanical, thermal, and optical teams on product development.
• Implement CANBus and SAE J1939 protocols meeting spec requirements.
• Draft specs and proposals for cost-effective, scalable design.
• Build proof-of-concept hardware and support DFMEA documentation.
• Create and run validation tests including alpha/beta and DVP&R stress tests.
• Refine designs for manufacturability and system integration.
• Write technical docs and support knowledge transfer.
