Job summary

AIM Intelligent Machines, Inc. is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to design and build core systems powering autonomous heavy machinery. You will craft embedded C++ code, develop low-level drivers, and ensure deterministic real-time behavior across CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, and Ethernet interfaces for Gen2 hardware.

You will lead hardware bring-up, improve telemetry and observability, and mentor engineers while balancing performance, safety, and reliability in field deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 5+ years of professional firmware or embedded systems experience.
• Strong C++ experience in embedded or systems programming.
• Experience with CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet.
• Experience designing systems for reliability, safety, and real-world deployment.
• Proven ability to deliver production-quality firmware in cross-functional environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build firmware for AIM’s Gen2 hardware platform using C++.
• Develop low-level drivers, HALs and system services.
• Build interfaces to sensors, actuators, ECUs and buses (CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet).
• Ensure deterministic behavior across real-time paths.
• Improve telemetry, logging, and debugging for embedded systems.
• Lead hardware bring-up and integration with E&M teams.
• Optimize timing, memory usage, and CPU utilization.
