Job summary

Talascend, LLC is seeking an Industrial HVAC Technician for a contract assignment in Mattawan, MI. The role focuses on overseeing and maintaining critical building systems, including boilers, chillers, and related mechanical and electrical equipment.

You will diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, document work in a CMMS, and coordinate with engineers and supervisors to ensure safe, reliable operation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on HVAC experience with boilers/chillers
• EPA Universal Certification required
• Strong diagnostic and documentation skills; able to work independently
• Experience with maintenance management systems preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and repair of on-site utility systems (boilers, chillers, towers, pumps, valves)
• Maintain equipment such as air compressors, AHUs, rooftop units
• Conduct routine tests and inspections and document results
• Assist other technicians and communicate with supervisors/engineers
• Order materials and ensure safety compliance; handle hazardous materials properly

Job description

Talascend is currently seeking an Industrial HVAC Technician for a contract opportunity located in Mattawan, MI.

Overview

This position involves overseeing and maintaining critical building systems, including refrigeration, boilers, chillers, and related mechanical and electrical equipment. The role requires analyzing system operations, troubleshooting issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring proper equipment function.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and repair service work on on-site utility systems including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, softeners, pumps, motors, and valves.
• Maintain other operational equipment such as air compressors, breathing air systems, air handling units, and rooftop HVAC units.
• Conduct routine tests and inspections on support equipment like water testing, chemical inventories, and brine levels.
• Assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs and maintenance of building systems and equipment.
• Utilize and operate tools and equipment associated with mechanical systems while completing job hazard analyses and work permits.
• Document all work performed in a computerized maintenance management system and communicate regularly with supervisors and engineers.
• Order materials, ensure safety compliance, and properly store hazardous materials.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial HVAC systems, specifically with steam boilers up to 37.5 million BTUs, water boilers up to 6 million BTUs, and large components.
• Required: EPA Universal certification.
• General understanding of computer systems.
• Experience in rebuilding pumps.
• Ability to work independently with excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position through relevant experience, training, or education.
