Job summary

Advastar, Inc. is recruiting an Electrical Engineer to lead the design of power and control systems for custom HVAC equipment in the Houston area.

You will own wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and electrical schematics from concept through fabrication, ensuring code compliance and safe operation. The role requires 8–10+ years in HVAC/manufacturing, a BS in Electrical Engineering, and AutoCAD Electrical proficiency; a Texas PE is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• PE license in Texas preferred; may be required depending on scope.
• 8–10+ years of experience in HVAC, manufacturing, or a related industrial field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical.
• Strong hands‑on knowledge of control circuit design (relays, transformers, VFDs, contactors, heaters).
• Solid understanding of PLCs; programming support a plus.
• Working knowledge of electrical power and control circuit design (AC/DC).
• Understanding of NEC and applicable electrical codes and standards.
• Experience with hazardous location design (Class/Division, IEC/ATEX) a plus.
• Reading and interpreting customer specs, drawings, and system schematics.

Responsibilities

• Design power and control systems for custom-built HVAC equipment from concept to fabrication.
• Create wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and electrical schematics for fabrication and field teams.
• Perform electrical calculations: load calcs, wire sizing, short-circuit ratings for code compliance and safety.
• Select and specify electrical components based on project requirements.
• Own the full electrical drawing package and submittal documentation from design through as-built.
• Collaborate with fabrication and installation teams to resolve issues during build and testing.
• Grow into a senior leadership role as the department transitions over the next few years.
