Job summary

WACKER is seeking a dedicated Firefighter for its Charleston, TN onsite Fire Department. You will perform firefighting and emergency medical responses, maintaining readiness to handle a variety of incidents with precision and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum H.S. diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
• 5 years of experience as a professional firefighter
• Possession of Fire Fighter I & II certificate
• Valid driver's license required
• Valid CPR certificate required
• Advanced Emergency Medical Technician License required
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with team members
• Ability to use computer to keep simple records and prepare reports
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate heavy emergency equipment
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor
• Safety awareness and good judgment

Responsibilities

• Responding immediately and safely to emergency calls and requests for assistance.
• Performing emergency medical services per licensure and protocols.
• Attend emergency incidents including fires, accidents, floods, spills of dangerous substances.
• Perform all phases of fire suppression including ventilation, overhaul, salvage and cleanup.
• Conduct search and rescue as part of a team.
• Maintain personal safety and assist in safety enforcement.
• Assist in periodic Uniform Fire Code inspections; document violations.
• Operate and drive fire department vehicle per laws and rules.
• Learn roads/buildings around plant to respond quickly.
• Inspect, maintain, and test fire suppression equipment and systems.
• Inspect and maintain department equipment and apparatus.
• Prepare statistical and analytical reports as required.
• Participate in training, drills and physical training.
