Job summary

City of Memphis Fire Department seeks a dedicated firefighter to respond to alarms, locate victims in smoky conditions, and advance charged hose lines to suppress fires. You will pry open structures, connect water sources, and transport patients to hospitals as needed.

Required NFPA Firefighter I & II and EMT or AEMT credentials, a valid Tennessee Driver’s License with Endorsement F, and the ability to work a 24-hour shift in extreme conditions with physical endurance.

Qualifications

• Must hold NFPA Firefighter I and II certifications with EMT or AEMT.
• Age 19–45 at start date; valid TN Driver's license with Endorsement F.
• Able to pass medical exam and physical ability test.

Responsibilities

• Responds to alarms and determines safest evacuation routes.
• Operates hydraulic rescue tools and pries open vehicles or structures.
• Performs patient assessment and pre-hospital medical care; transports to hospital.
• Deals with hazardous materials, and maintains equipment and certifications.
