The intern will take assignments from the Manager of Manufacturing and be encouraged to share ideas and suggestions. Responsibilities include updating work instructions, improving material handling, solving real-time operations problems with Lean tools, and supporting fabrication process
Qualifications
- Enrolled student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Welding Engineering Technology, Industrial, Mechanical or related Engineering field for the internship duration.
- GPA 3.0 or greater is preferred.
- Experience with welding, machining, or fabrication is a plus.
- Exposure to Lean and 5S concepts is desired.
- Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD software is beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Audit and update work instructions, routings, and bills of materials.
- Improve material handling methods.
- Learn to solve real time operations problems using Lean tools.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Develop methods in fabrication and machining processes.
- Perform workstation/cell analyses to improve productivity and quality.
- Provide technical support to production personnel.
- Assist with plant layout and workstation design.
- Learn and use ERP manufacturing software (JD Edwards).
- Create documentation for new product launches.
- All other duties or projects as assigned.
