Job summary

United States Postal Service seeks an experienced Industrial Engineer to oversee mail processing and maintenance projects, applying industrial engineering principles and continuous improvement practices.

You will develop staffing models, monitor facility performance, and collaborate with Headquarters Engineering to implement national initiatives and layout changes. Strong communication and leadership are essential for guiding teams and ensuring safety compliance.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited degree in Industrial Engineering or higher.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Responsibilities

Leads analysis of mail processing and maintenance operations to improve service, productivity, and cost performance.
Develops costing and staffing models to evaluate use of employees and equipment; guides scheduling strategies.
Oversees and monitors operations and equipment performance using national metrics; proposes improvements and reports results.
Collaborates with Headquarters Engineering for national initiatives and facility/layout changes.
Provides technical guidance on engineering practices to managers; may coordinate lower-level IE staff.
Leads cross-functional teams on service, cost, and productivity improvements.
Provides training on standardization and continuous improvement tools to align with operational excellence.
Communicates technical guidance and policy interpretation to stakeholders.
Analyzes changes to equipment, processes, and staffing for safety and regulatory adherence.
