Job summary

SMP Automotive System Alabama Inc. is seeking an Industrial Engineer to standardize production and drive project implementations across the plant. You will lead material-flow planning, workplace design, and value-stream improvements in collaboration with HQ and logistics teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, 2–3 years of experience, and skills in MTM/REFA, FMEA, and lean manufacturing. Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office is expected, with English/German/Spanish as a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in Engineering or related field.
• Project management experience.
• Secondary equipment planning / procurement.
• Production and factory planning.
• MS Office and CAD (AutoCAD) proficiency.
• Value Stream Mapping.
• MTM or REFA proficiency.
• Lean Manufacturing – Toyota Production System – Poka-Yoke.
• Continuous Improvement
• Ergonomics.
• English / German and/or Spanish will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Plan material flow in cooperation with logistics planning department.
• Design workplaces in cooperation with HQ / Ergonomics.
• Generate Value Stream Maps, flow diagrams, production layouts.
• Develop and introduce new techniques.
• Design customer articles suitable for production.
• Generate and participate in process FMEAs.
• Determine required secondary equipment and specifications.
• Oversee equipment procurement and production launch of secondary equipment.
• Lead sub-Projects management, due date and cost control.
• Support Kaizen projects and daily startup/series support.
• Perform MTM analyses and optimize value streams.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
