Job summary

Magna International, Inc. is seeking a production/quality engineer to work closely with the Production team on safety, throughput, and process improvements at our Birmingham, AL facility.

You will prepare investment-grade business cases and lead cost-down initiatives while ensuring rigorous documentation and compliance with CMS standards. The role requires a technical degree (or equivalent automotive experience), strong MS Office skills, and the ability to work well in teams or independently.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a technical discipline or 10 years automotive experience.
• Skilled trade certification.
• Strong MS Office skills include Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word.
• Ability to work in teams or independently.
• Knowledge of PPAP, die/process tooling, welding and sealer applications, CMM and datum alignment, data processing and reporting, and tolerance concepts.

Responsibilities

• Identify issues affecting safety, throughput, efficiency, ergonomics, product flow and downtime with the Production team.
• Prepare business case studies for investment and cost-down/continuous improvement activities.
• Update control plans, work instructions, TPM instructions and other controlled documents.
• Ensure PPAP requirements are met for process changes and coordinate with sales, accounting and purchasing as needed.
• Support audits and 5S for work stations and departments.
