Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Rocky Mount, NC is seeking an Industrial Engineer to design, improve, and install integrated manufacturing systems for engine assembly. You will own process documentation, standard work, and PFMEAs while applying Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma to cut cycle time and costs.

You will pair AutoCAD and layout/simulation skills with data analysis to optimize plant layout, validate processes, and support new line introductions, delivering practical improvements across operations.

Qualifications

• College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or operations preferred.
• Familiarity with PFMEA, standard work, and Lean methodologies is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Track and maintain process documentation, standard work, PFMEA for engine assembly.
• Support layout planning and plant optimization (space utilization).
• Lead Value Stream Mapping and transformation projects.
• Implement cost reduction projects (labor, material handling, cycle time).
• Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and Six Sigma initiatives for productivity improvement.
• Support new product / line introductions and process validation.
