Job summary

APPLIED OPTOELECTRONICS INC in Sugar Land, TX is seeking an Industrial Engineer to optimize production capacity, reduce costs, and improve quality. You will partner with manufacturing and engineering teams to implement Lean initiatives and performance dashboards.

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering, has strong analytical skills, and experience with MES/ERP systems, SQL, Python, and MATLAB. Cleanroom experience and semiconductor manufacturing exposure are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw conclusions and determine strategies based upon data.
• MES and ERP knowledge preferred; SQL, Python, MATLAB programming skills preferred.
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing environment preferred; automation experience preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred; ability to work in a cleanroom when needed.

Responsibilities

• Partner with production and engineering teams to optimize operations and costs.
• Design and implement performance metrics and dashboards to monitor progress.
• Assess manufacturing capabilities and calculate production capacities.
• Drive labor productivity and apply Lean principles across processes.
• Lead cross-functional projects for process improvements and new products.
