Job summary

APPLIED OPTOELECTRONICS INC in Sugar Land, TX, on-site, seeks an Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer to optimize operations for laser chip production. You will develop capacity models, MES workflows, and cost-saving initiatives across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.

Ideal candidates hold a Industrial Engineering degree, strong data analytics, and experience with MES/ERP systems. Knowledge of SQL and LabVIEW is a plus; clean room experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision making.
• MES and ERP knowledge preferred.
• SQL and programming skills preferred; LabVIEW a plus.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment desirable.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with production and engineering to meet Quality, Delivery, and Cost goals.
• Create dashboards to monitor progress and communicate with leadership.
• Lead projects to improve productivity and reduce lead-time.
• Calculate production capacity and coordinate with production control.
• Ensure accurate material transactions and timely execution.
• Develop and deploy Lean methods to improve labor productivity.
• Support cost variance analysis with accounting.
• Define processes and develop MES requirements with IT.
• Maintain BOM and BOM of Operations for laser products.
• Identify tools and maintain production line assets.
• Document procedures and work instructions.
• Assist with other tasks as needed.
