Job summary

Joseph Michaels International in Decorah, Iowa seeks an Industrial Engineer to lead lean initiatives and remove bottlenecks across production lines. You will supervise IE operators and technicians, drive process improvements, and develop capability and performance.

Responsibilities include 5S, standard work, visual management, value stream mapping, Kaizen, and creating capacity models and time standards to maximize plant utilization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineering) required.
• Minimum 5 years of Industrial Engineering experience.
• Knowledge of LEAN principles.
• Experience with throughput improvement processes.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written/oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement site lean activities (5S, standard work, visual management, pace to takt, value stream mapping, Kaizen, 8D) to reduce waste and improve productivity.
• Foster professional development of facility leads, supervisors, and managers as a proactive CI change agent.
• Standardize and optimize manufacturing processes, sequences, layouts and flow.
• Lead and track continuous improvement across manufacturing and office functions.
• Develop detailed plans, drive project performance and ensure timely completion of improvements and savings.
• Design equipment layouts, workflows, and safety measures to maximize utilization.
• Own equipment capital expenditures from design to implementation with vendors.
• Collaborate with Operations Manager and Site Leadership to build a CI roadmap for best-in-class performance.
• Lead capacity modeling, production planning tools, and time standards development.
