Job summary

Emerson in Marshalltown, IA seeks an Industrial Engineer to improve manufacturing processes for valve components. You will collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to solve challenges, implement new processes, and support improvements that enhance safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and costs.

The role emphasizes designing and refining methods, analyzing workflows, and applying CAD/CAM/CNC tools while driving robust process improvements and cost reduction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with statistical process control, lean manufacturing, or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods to reduce cost and strengthen competitive advantage.
• Research new manufacturing technologies and recommend capital improvement projects.
• Analyze workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and equipment layout for efficiency and safety.
• Participate in design reviews with product development and design teams for efficient production methods.
• Collaborate with vendors to define product specs, source equipment and materials, and evaluate quality and performance.
• Estimate production times, staffing needs, and related costs to support management decisions.
• Partner with management and cross-functional teams on capabilities, schedules, and process improvements.
• Implement engineering changes and new process introductions into the manufacturing system promptly.
• Use CAD/CAM and CNC programs to optimize manufacturing processes.
• Apply statistical methods to assess process capability and improvements.
• Develop clear work instructions and tooling documentation for production teams.
• Support production by troubleshooting manufacturing issues.
