Job summary

The Fountain Group is seeking an Industrial Engineer I (Material Flow Engineer) for a prominent client in Whitakers, NC 27891. This 6-month contract role focuses on improving material flow and supporting design-to-production collaboration.

Responsibilities include CAD-based layout work, data analysis in Excel, and applying lean methods to optimize storage and process documentation. Strong cross-functional teamwork and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field is required.
• Experience with CAD software is required.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required.
• Experience with data analysis and data-driven problem solving is required.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, logistics, material flow, or operations projects is preferred.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing or operations excellence methodologies is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support material flow improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.
• Support sequence cart design activities and coordinate with vendors from design through production.
• Conduct rack part audits and optimize plant storage utilization.
• Support storage identification processes and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain process documentation for material flow and logistics projects.
• Support PFEP documentation and updates.
• Utilize Operations Excellence and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance logistics and material flow processes.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation of manufacturing and logistics solutions.
• Utilize CAD, Excel, and data analytics tools to support operational improvements and decision-making.
