Job summary

City of Fort Smith is seeking a skilled Electrician/Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the electrical maintenance of water treatment facilities, pump stations, and storage equipment. This role ensures compliance with NEC and regulatory standards, with duties spanning installation, testing, preventive maintenance, and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Journeyman Electrician License required for all positions.
• Obtain Arkansas Department of Health Grade III Water Distribution License within two years from date of employment.
• Obtain Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality Class I Wastewater License within two years from date of employment.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis on repetitive and catastrophic system failures.
• Demonstrate ability to install and program variable frequency drives.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Install, operate, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all electrical equipment and switchgear used in the water and wastewater departments.
• Provide preventive maintenance of equipment, motors, controls, and wiring.
• Maintain working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and current industry standards.
• Document and maintain records of work performed including work orders, daily logs, schematics, and parts lists; observe, evaluate, assist, and document work performed by outside service repair centers; evaluate service requests and provide feedback as appropriate.
• Maintain electric systems for buildings and grounds.
• Maintain signal lighting on water pressure tanks and reservoirs.
• Work with contractors and vendors to ensure functionality.
• Develop and install new electrical control panels.
