Job summary

Johnson County Wastewater is seeking an Industrial Electrician to join the Leawood-based maintenance team. The role focuses on electrical maintenance, building automation, and PLC support across the treatment facility and off-site pumps.

A journey-level background in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or building automation is required, with a certification for HVAC refrigerants preferred. The position requires a thorough background check, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work on-call and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years' specialized trade (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, or Building Automation) performing at the journey/equivalent level
• One (1) additional year of related experience may substitute for education
• Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification or equivalent is required for HVAC specialty
• Must pass a thorough criminal history screening and have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Ensures systems, buildings, and equipment perform efficiently and proposes improvements
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots highly technical systems including HVAC, building automation, electrical, and plumbing
• Designs, sets up, and repairs PLCs and controllers; supervises contractors for bid compliance
• Operates and maintains equipment and vehicles; completes work orders and logs using a computerized system
• Coordinates safety training and ensures compliance with safety standards
