Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. in Rahway, NJ is seeking an Electrician to install, operate, maintain and repair electrical power and lighting systems for an industrial environment.

You will work with transformers, VFDs, UPSs and generators, reading CAD drawings and schematics to ensure safe, reliable operation. The role requires 5+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience, with a strong focus on safety and quality work in an industrial setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in electrical installation and repair in an industrial environment.
• Understand wiring diagrams, schematics and CAD drawings/Blueprints.
• Familiarity with local National Electric Code.
• Knowledge of various types of electrical motors and controls.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, maintain or alter electrical services, equipment and controls using properly sized wire, conduit, raceways and equipment.
• Work with high and low voltage systems, including transformers, high voltage primary feed and secondary transformers.
• Work with facilities and research electrical systems including VFDs, UPSs/lighting inverters, ATSs and emergency generators, lighting systems, gas detection systems, motors, etc.
• Read CAD drawings, prints, schematics, sketches or verbal instructions.
• Install static grounding circuits.
• Operate hand/power tools and test instruments; maintain equipment in good condition.
• Adhere to safety rules/regulations and report unsafe situations to supervisor.
• Maintain clean, safe work area; perform other duties including work of other trades as required.
