Job summary

Sonoco Products is seeking an Industrial Electrician at our Oakdale, CA facility. The role focuses on installing, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems across multiple production lines, including PLC programming for process control.

The ideal candidate has industrial electrician experience, works with minimal supervision, and can handle complex issues while ensuring safety and reliability of plant equipment.

Qualifications

• Industrial electrician experience.

• Ability to handle complex issues and problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter.

Responsibilities

• Install all electrical segments in equipment such as gas mixers, burners, de-ionized water units, air compressors, plant air circulation systems, cooling and heating units, ultrasonic cleaners, waxers and plant lighting.
• Install and maintain high-speed industrial process equipment for can, end making, coat/coil and/or lithography services: power, lighting, control and logic circuits for all production process and support equipment.
• Program logic controls (PLC) for proper equipment operation.
• Perform preventative maintenance on assigned electrical systems and equipment.
• Troubleshoot, adjust and repair all electrical equipment, solid-state circuits, circuit boards, components, logic boards, transducers, amplifiers and complex timing and inspection devices.
• Identify inefficiencies and potential electrical problems and coordinate through supervisor to resolve.
• Assist in the design, experimentation, and/or installation of all new plant equipment or electrical production procedures.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, division, group and company.
• Maintain safe and healthful working conditions while enforcing safety rules and regulations.
