Job summary

Gopher Sport is seeking an Industrial Designer to join our team in Owatonna, MN. You will design new products, improve existing ones, and transform concepts into manufacturable solutions.

You will prototype, create CAD models and technical drawings, and work with materials, costs, and manufacturing methods to ensure reliable assembly and production. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, review samples, troubleshoot quality issues, and push for manufacturable, cost-effective designs

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design / Product Design / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in Industrial Design / Product Development.
• SolidWorks proficiency including technical drawings and 3D modeling.
• Advanced understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on experience building and testing early-stage prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Design new products and improve existing ones to create manufacturable solutions.
• Create CAD models and renders; define colors, materials, and production methods.
• Develop engineering drawings and product specs for manufacturing.
• Review samples, troubleshoot quality issues, and iterate designs.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams on complex designs and diverse product categories.
• Create patentable ideas and ensure avoidance of infringement.
• Maintain lab tools and ensure prototyping capabilities.
• Ensure safety, organization, and proper storage of design files.
