Job summary

ARCO/Murray National Construction seeks an Industrial Controls Project Manager for its Second Order Controls division in Chicago, IL. You will lead projects from design to completion, overseeing controls design, procurement, installation, and commissioning.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in industrial controls, expertise with PLC/SCADA, and strong communication and leadership abilities. Expect 25-40% field work and growth opportunities within ARCO’s growing self-perform controls services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, controls, or similar.
• 5+ years of industrial controls experience.
• Strong understanding of industrial control system architecture (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, instrumentation).
• Experience with Ignition SCADA platform configuration and integration with PLC-based systems.
• Experience with Siemens and/or Beckhoff PLC programming, logic development, troubleshooting, and field integration.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership abilities.
• Willingness to spend 25-40% on construction job sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of a project from preconstruction through closeout, including controls design, buyout, installation, and commissioning.
• Oversee PLC and HMI/SCADA programming, including mapping, sequencing, testing strategy, graphics coordination, and field integration.
• Review control narratives, shop drawings, panel layouts, submittals, and as-built documentation for accuracy and constructability.
• Support equipment and controls buyout, including instrumentation selection, controller architecture, vendor evaluations, and procurement planning.
• Direct field installation activities for low-voltage controls systems and establish communications infrastructure.
