Job summary

Prysmian USA is seeking a hands-on Automation Engineer to own and evolve the plant's PLC/SCADA stack, focusing on Studio 5000 ControlLogix/CompactLogix, HMI design, and data-driven insights. You will deploy ISA-101 aligned HMIs, troubleshoot VFD networks, and drive uptime through proactive automation improvements.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Electrical/Controls/Automation Engineering or related discipline.
• 3+ years of manufacturing controls experience.
• Proficient in Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix and Studio 5000.
• Experience with HMI development/troubleshooting (FactoryTalk View, InTouch, Red Lion, Ignition).
• Industrial networking fundamentals: IP addressing, managed switches, VLANs, protocols.
• Knowledge of VFD setup and integration.
• Ability to read/create electrical schematics and P&IDs.
• Strong analytical and root-cause skills.
• Hands-on plant-floor presence and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and sustain PLC logic in Studio 5000 for ControlLogix/CompactLogix.
• Design HMIs using ISA-101 principles for clarity and speed.
• Commission, integrate, and diagnose VFDs.
• Lead SCADA architecture, dashboards, historian integration, and data acquisition.
• Define data models and tag conventions; deliver dashboards and reports.
• Configure PLC-SCADA communications, OPC UA, and historian structures.
• Develop and maintain industrial networking tuned to plant needs.
• Own automation upgrades, controls retrofits, and new installations; write control specs.
• Support ROI and cost-benefit analyses; manage schedules/budgets.
• Serve as escalation during downtime; build maintenance playbooks.
