Job summary

Granite Construction Company in Cheyenne, WY seeks a Safety professional to administer SHMS and ensure compliance with safety regulations at an assigned location. The role emphasizes collaboration with teams, regulators, and health facilities to improve workforce safety and program effectiveness.

The candidate will plan safety orientations, conduct audits, and support training programs, while working in a high-production environment with long hours. A relevant degree or CHST is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Occupational Health or related field, or CHST preferred.
• Minimum 3+ years in civil construction safety environment.
• Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams, owner representatives and regulators to maintain safety relations.
• Plan project visits, safety orientations, and trainings based on project needs.
• Promote engagement with the safety program and incident prevention efforts.
• Assist in implementing safety programs to meet strategic goals.
• Perform and document inspections, observations and audits to reduce incidents.
• Assist in safety meetings and training to improve hazard awareness.
• Engage in regulatory inspections and investigations to ensure compliance.
• Develop and review job hazard analyses to identify hazards and controls.
• Investigate near misses, incidents and claims to protect company interests.
• Ensure corrective actions are tracked and completed in a timely fashion.
