Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Project Manager II to join our Industrial team in Des Moines, IA. This role involves leading project coordination, managing risk, and guiding the preconstruction and execution phases.

Travel up to 50% is required, with responsibilities spanning schedule management, subcontractor oversight, and close collaboration with stakeholders to deliver on budget and safety goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years of construction project management experience.
• LEAN principles experience desirable.
• OSHA 30 preferred, or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Understand contract terms to keep work within scope.
• Own risk management and mitigation for assigned projects.
• Collaborate to execute goals and improve quality programs.
• Coordinate schedules, address long lead items, update plans.
• Confirm contracts, insurances, bonds and change orders before scope execution.
• Prepare and ensure site safety plan and compliance.
• Oversee drawings, RFIs, submittals and document control.
• Support preconstruction efforts and manage the buyout process.
