You will also work with rotating equipment, structural supports, and heavy industrial machinery within active commercial and industrial construction sites. Compensation and Perks
  • Pay Rate: Columbia Market: $26 – $28 per hour (commensurate with experience); Charleston Market: $28 – $31 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Core Responsibilities
  • Support senior mechanics by assisting with mechanical repairs, maintenance, and installations.
  • Ensure the precise installation, leveling, alignment, and commissioning of mechanical systems to help guarantee long-term equipment reliability.
  • Organize necessary materials and prepare the workspace for daily mechanical operations.
  • Utilize forklifts, overhead cranes, and hoists to move heavy metal components, ensuring the safe positioning of equipment for the entire team.
  • Navigate elevated and difficult work areas while strictly adhering to site‑specific safety standards and OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain a tidy and well‑organized jobsite throughout the duration of the shift.
  • Adhere to all established safety policies, OSHA regulations, and client‑specific site rules.
  • Promptly notify supervision of any near misses, incidents, or hazardous conditions to help maintain a safe working environment for everyone.
  • Finalize jobsite cleanup once tasks and projects are finished.
  • Handle additional responsibilities as requested.
Physical Expectations
  • Capable of balancing, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working at significant heights.
  • Demonstrate strong hand‑eye coordination while safely operating various tools and machinery.
  • Adapt to a variety of tasks that may shift frequently throughout the workday.
  • Maintain focus, mobility, and alertness while working in diverse conditions on active job sites.
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in industrial mechanical construction.
  • A strong desire to grow your skills within the industrial mechanical trade.
  • Capacity to follow directions and contribute effectively to a team‑based environment.
  • Proficiency in using power and manual tools, such as calipers, squares, and saws.
  • A valid driver’s license is preferred.
  • Ability to acquire basic computer skills for documenting work progress, communicating via email, and tracking status or procurements.

Role Scope and Constraints

  • Execute preventative maintenance, system modifications, and shutdown work on various mechanical systems and industrial machinery.
  • Collaborate with engineers, superintendents, project managers, and other trades to ensure project scope alignment and successful delivery.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace while following all safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • This is a physically demanding position that requires crouching, kneeling, bending, lifting, and handling heavy loads.
  • Frequent interaction with and handling of heavy tools and equipment.
  • Must be prepared to work in outdoor heavy commercial jobsites, shutdown environments, manufacturing facilities, and active industrial plants under varying conditions.
