Job summary

J. Davis Construction, a family-owned general contractor serving the southeastern United States, seeks a Project Executive to lead the Industrial Construction sector.

You will drive business development, oversee preconstruction, client services, and project management, and mentor staff to build a high-performing team. You will grow client relationships, win new work, manage budgets and schedules, ensure safety and quality, and partner with executives to improve processes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive commercial construction experience, including business development and client relationship management.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.
• Experience managing multiple commercial projects and leading project management teams.
• Strong knowledge of commercial contract delivery methods, including GMP, Lump Sum, CM at-Risk, and Design-Build.
• Demonstrated financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and margin oversight.
• Proven leadership, team development, negotiation, and risk management skills.
• Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and client communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and reinforces the company mission and core values.
• Develop and maintain strategic client relationships that generate new business opportunities.
• Lead project pursuits, presentations, and contract negotiations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to secure new work and expand market presence.
• Support marketing initiatives and sector growth strategies.
• Create and manage the annual business development budget to ensure resources are allocated effectively, in coordination with the Director of Business Development and COO.
• Provide executive oversight for commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Review project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and contract compliance.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Monitor financial performance, cash flow, and client satisfaction across assigned projects.
• Support project teams with strategic guidance and problem resolution.
• Mentor, develop, and support Project Managers and operational staff.
• Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
• Promote company values, employee engagement, and professional growth.
• Partner with executive leadership to improve processes and drive operational excellence.
