Job summary

Austin Industrial is seeking a Welder - Combination to join our production team. You will weld or tack weld pipe and metal plates to exact specifications using spot welding, torch, and plasma-arc equipment, following blueprints and welding procedures.

The ideal candidate has 4 years of Journeyman welding experience, a Weld Test, and a valid driver’s license. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; we do not sponsor visas.

Qualifications

• Education: no minimum education requirements.
• Experience: 4 years of Journeyman-level welding experience.
• Certifications/Licenses: Weld Test and a Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Use spot welding gun or other welding equipment to weld or tack weld pieces.
• Unite pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and turn valves to release mixture.
• Adjust flame to reach expected temperature, size, and color of flame.
• Preheat work pieces for the preparation of welding or curving, using torch.
• Fill holes or correct mistakes in lead pieces and make bulges thin and curves in metal work pieces.
• Check the weakness of work pieces and measure with straightedge or template to meet specifications.
• Climb ladders or work on scaffolds to access work pieces.
• Gives signal to crane operator to lift large work pieces.
• Use thermal-cutting equipment to dismount metal assemblies or cut scrap metal.
• Use hoist, crane, wire and banding machine, or hand tools to place and protect work pieces.
• Choose place of weld based on type, thickness, area, and expected temperature of metal.
• Instructs flame or electrodes on or across work piece to straighten, curve, dissolve, or develop metal.
• Joins pieces together, covers up taut points, and adds metal to develop parts.
• Other duties as assigned.
