Job summary

Austin Industries is seeking a Welder - Combination to join metal parts per blueprints, work orders, and welding procedures. You will use various welding methods to join pipes, plates and other components at our Decatur, IL job sites.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience, can read blueprints, and operates welding and support equipment. This is a hands-on role with opportunities at an established 100% employee-owned company.

Qualifications

• No minimum education requirements.
• 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Weld or tack weld pieces using spot, electric, or gas welding equipment.
• Unite pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and operate valves.
• Maintain flame temperature and adjust gas/air flow as required.
• Preheat pieces for welding preparation.
• Inspect pieces for spec compliance using straightedge or templates.
• Assist crane operator for lifting large pieces.
