Job summary

Smart Family of Cooling Products in New Orleans is hiring a field technician to keep critical chiller systems online. You’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial refrigeration equipment, using gauges, thermometers, and other diagnostic tools to restore performance for our customers.

You’ll work outdoors as needed, comply with safety standards, and collaborate with the team to meet service goals while handling components like VFDs, motors, valves, and controllers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Technical school training or apprenticeship preferred.
• Approximately three years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain chiller equipment with scheduled service to prevent downtime.
• Diagnose issues on operational systems using precise testing tools and your expertise.
• Repair or replace components to return equipment to specification.
• Install, maintain, and repair industrial refrigeration systems: refrigerant handling, instrumentation, control valves, motors, motor controls, motor switch gear, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), soft-starts, pumps, exchangers, filters, and refrigeration controllers.
• Uphold strict safety practices aligned with company and industry standards.
• Take on additional assigned tasks to support team goals.
• Provide overtime support when requested—up to 15% annually (no more than 300 hours)—as directed by the client and/or upper management.
