Thompson Pipe Group is seeking an Industrial Buyer — Engineered Pipe Systems in Grand Prairie, TX. You will own sourcing strategy for pressure pipe projects, turning technical drawings and specifications into purchasing actions, and building a supplier base for steel, cement, resin, and more.

You’ll negotiate terms, monitor delivery, and drive cost savings across multiple facilities. Ideal candidates read engineering documents, qualify alternatives, and manage vendor relationships at scale.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings/specifications and standards.
• Negotiation strength across pricing, terms, and lead times.
• Experience qualifying alternative materials/suppliers and managing vendor relationships at scale.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, and highly organized; adept at problem solving.
• Comfort operating in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with multiple priorities.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across departments.

Responsabilités

• Own the sourcing strategy that aligns quality, cost, and delivery.
• Read and interpret specifications and drawings, validate requirements against buyout lists.
• Cultivate supplier base for steel, cement, aggregate, resin, coatings, and outsourced components.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms to protect schedules and margins.
• Use ERP (IFS) and Purchasing Tracker to manage shortages and cost savings.
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Production, Receiving, and Project Management.
• Track commodity trends and adjust purchasing strategy.
• Maintain purchasing records and identify process improvements.
