Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Brazer to assemble and brazing large-diameter piping for natural gas, chillers, and industrial HVAC. This role requires heavy industrial brazing experience and the ability to work with 1"–4" pipes, copper-to-brass and copper-to-steel joints, and high brazing temperatures.

Shifts include 1st, 2nd, and weekend schedules with overtime; contract-to-hire in Mesa, AZ. Onsite work with safety PPE and strict adherence to codes is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Pipefitter, TIG Welder, or Industrial Brazing Technician.
• Hands-on experience with heavy industrial torch brazing.
• Experience working with larger diameter pipes (1"–4").
• Ability to braze copper to copper, copper to steel joints, and copper to brass.
• Experience achieving and controlling industrial brazing temperatures.
• Ability to perform brazing in all joint positions.
• Strong understanding of heat control, joint preparation, and filler material selection.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and piping schematics.
• Familiarity with industry codes on pressure equipment and piping safety/compliance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct torch brazing on piping systems ranging from 1-inch to 4-inch diameter.
• Braze copper to copper, copper to steel joints, and copper to brass for natural gas and HVAC systems.
• Assemble and join copper, steel, and alloy components used in chillers and HVAC systems.
• Perform brazing operations on piping, coils, compressors, valves, and fittings.
• Complete joints in uphill, downhill, and horizontal positions.
• Heat joints to brazing temperatures (about 600°C–900°C, depending on metals).
• Apply silver-based and copper phosphorus filler alloys with melting ranges 620°C–780°C.
• Monitor flame and heat distribution to ensure proper filler flow.
• Use nitrogen purging to prevent oxidation and buildup.
• Prepare joints by cleaning, fitting, and aligning components.
• Inspect joints visually and mechanically for flow and integrity.
• Test pressures and leaks using nitrogen tests or soap solution.
• Repair defective joints and rework per procedures.
• Maintain torches, regulators, temp indicators, and gas systems.
• Follow hot work permits and PPE requirements.
• Record process parameters and report deviations.
• Participate in quality and continuous improvement.
