Job summary

Industrial Automation Instructor

Position Summary: Facilitate training and provide academic instruction for Industrial Technology courses with a focus on automation, while also being able to teach courses with maintenance and mechanics as needed.

CLASSIFICATION: Faculty
DEPARTMENT: CTE
REPORTS TO: Dean
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
FULL TIME/PART TIME: Full-time, permanent, 12-month contract, tenure track
SHIFT: Day shift, weekdays
LOCATION: Andrew County Location; may require travel to other NW Missouri locations

Essential Functions

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to

• Develop and deliver short-term training solutions as needed by the department.
• Develop and maintain alliances with regional industry partners to support recruiting and job placement of students and to stay connected with employer needs.
• Recruit students through partnerships with area career centers across NCMC’s 17-county service region.
• Increase enrollment and program resources through industry partnerships.
• Collaborate with Business and Industry Services Coordinator for non-credit industry training.
• Advance student learning through exemplary instruction in accordance with established course syllabus.
• Teach a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs.
• Commit to the learning process by participation in the development and revision of the curriculum and semester schedules.
• Continuously improve instructional quality by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods to ensure student success; such as collaborative learning, learning communities, service learning, instructional technology and online education to enhance retention.
• Provide access to students by posting office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods.
• Establish annual objectives to include personal and professional growth plans.
• Participate in student academic advising including supporting the Advising Office and assessment of student learning. Prepare reports as required.
• Assist in the identification and the recommendation of adjunct faculty.
• Effectively collaborate with adjunct and dual credit instructors, as needed.
• Participate in division and college committees.
• Maintain current knowledge in subject‑matter as well as effective teaching and learning strategies.
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education:

Degree in Automation, Industrial Technology, or related technical field is preferred. Significant professional experience may substitute for education requirements.

Experience:

Significant experience in an industrial setting that may include teaching or work background in industrial automation, robotics, controls, networking, electricity, electronics, hydraulics, mechanical, and/or maintenance. Teaching or training experience is preferred.

Skills:

Proficient in MS Office. Ability to build relationships and maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Proven organizational, analytical and time management skills displaying initiative when completing tasks. Must have the ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

Physical Demands:

Moving about in buildings and on the NCMC campuses; reaching, pulling, and pushing when performing office duties; remain stationary at a desk for extended periods while working on a computer and answering phones. Teach in a classroom setting for extended periods. Driving to other campuses and training locations.

Environmental Demands:

Fluctuations while moving on tile and carpeted floors in a heated and air conditioned environment.
