Job summary

Orion Steel Group, L.L.C. is seeking an Industrial Automation Engineer to join the maintenance team at our Pueblo, Colorado plant.

The role focuses on developing new industrial processes and designing equipment or modifying existing ones in an automated steel production setting. Responsibilities include designing control systems, supporting automated mills, and driving improvements in production time, quality, energy use, and downtime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Automated Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
• 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC, Fanuc, Modicon or Toolbox and VFDs
• Strong computer skills in MS Excel, Projects and PowerPoint
• Proven teamwork and communication skills
• Must be available to be on call for emergencies and business needs

Responsibilities

• Support rolling mills and automated steel production and maintenance
• Design, develop, and implement control systems (hardware & software) to improve production
• Understand process control systems from scrap melting to finished product
• Analyze and improve PLC and HMI performance
• Bridge control site data with company information systems
• Provide ongoing maintenance support and resolve control system problems
• Write requirements and high-level design specifications for control of steel processes
• Assume project management responsibilities
