Department Summary

The Industrial and Systems Engineering Department (ISE) at SJSU provides high-quality education to undergraduate and graduate students. The department offers classroom instruction, hands‑on experience in industry‑sponsored laboratories, and internship opportunities. It serves over 200 undergraduates and 340 graduate students.

Brief Description of Duties

Lecturers are expected to:

• Teach courses effectively and maintain appropriate office hours in accordance with University policy.
• Cooperate in the department’s peer‑review process.
• Use the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) for all class materials and student interaction.
• Enroll all classes in Canvas before the semester starts.
• Deliver all classes as scheduled (asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in‑person, or hybrid) throughout the term.

Compensation

Compensation and salary placement are based on qualifications and experience. Anticipated monthly salaries for full‑time AY faculty are:

L‑A / Range 2 – $5,507 – $5,959
L‑B / Range 3 – $6,221 – $7,481
L‑C / Range 4 – $6,825 – $9,431
L‑D / Range 5 – $8,593 – $10,347

Part‑time rates are prorated. Full‑time annual salary equals monthly rate x 12 with six monthly payments per semester.
