Job description

Overview

The Aviation and Technology Department at San José State University offers a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology (BS Industrial Technology) and a Master of Science in Quality Assurance (MSQA). The program provides two concentrations: Manufacturing Systems (Mfg) and Computer Network System Management (CNSM). 450 students are currently enrolled. State‑of‑the‑art laboratories include the Cisco Systems Internet of Things (IoT) Lab, Virtual and Simulation Network Lab, Advanced Manufacturing Lab with Haas CNC machines, 3D Printers, Control and Automation Lab with Omron Automated Guided Vehicles and Robotic Conveyor Systems, and simulation software workstations. Students gain internships, individual research experience, and laboratory leadership opportunities.

Brief Description of Duties
  • Develop and deliver inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement to a diverse student population.
  • Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Ensure all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester or term in their assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
  • Collaborate with the Department Chair and Course Coordinators to develop course materials and maintain appropriate office hours in accordance with University policy.
  • Engage in the peer‑review process and seek guidance from the Department Chair on grading, testing, textbooks, office hours, curriculum goals, disability accommodations, and academic integrity.
Required Qualifications
  • PhD or MS degree in the field or related area is required; in exceptional cases a BS degree with substantial experience may be considered. Industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of the subject matter of the assigned discipline.
  • Evidence of satisfactory achievement in prior academic work.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population, gained through study, training, teaching, or comparable experience.
Compensation

Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience. For details, see University Policy S21‑2.

Anticipated Starting Salary
  • L‑A / Range 2 – $5,507 – $5,959
  • L‑B / Range 3 – $6,221 – $7,481
  • L‑C / Range 4 – $6,825 – $9,431
  • L‑D / Range 5 – $8,593 – $10,347

Anticipated monthly salary rates for full‑time faculty; part‑time rates are prorated. There are six monthly payments per semester.

Employment Conditions
