Job summary

J.R. Simplot Company in Grand Forks, ND is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support refrigeration, HVAC, and ammonia systems across the plant.

You will perform operational and preventive maintenance, defrost freezer evaporators, and ensure accurate data logging while supporting safety and compliance programs. The role requires 2.5+ years of related experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to obtain CIRO certification within one year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2.5+ years in maintenance, refrigeration, or industrial setting.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and refrigeration principles.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs refrigeration operational and maintenance duties for the Grand Forks site.
• Performs defrost on all freezer evaporators.
• Maintains work area in a clean and functional condition.
• Ensures that work orders are completed as assigned.
• Performs responsibilities during plant evacuations and monitors fire sprinkler system.
• Ensures accuracy of data reporting systems (refrigeration logs, fire protection, cold storage recorders).
• Operates and maintains the compressed air system, HVAC, AMU units, low oxygen systems, and fire protection system.
• Supports ongoing plant process safety management (PSM) initiatives.
