I. Job Summary

Presents the full line of WM services to prospective WM customers or assigned area of responsibility. Manages existing revenues and develops revenue opportunities within an established geographical territory. Meets or exceeds individual sales goals for new business with industrial and hazardous waste customers.

  • Effectively utilizes, coordinates and cultivates relationships with internal and external customers. Interacts and works cohesively with the other industrial sales team members.
  • Achieves or exceeds budgeted revenue goals for new and existing organic waste inbound customers with in assigned sales territory.
  • Promote and sell compost, soil blends, and mulch to contractors and project managers.
  • Consult with clients on product specs, soil performance, erosion control needs, and sustainability goals.
  • Maintains existing base business; identified new waste streams and new base business customers. Targets and closes event business opportunities.
  • Researching aspects of organics business and developing detailed proposals encompassing organics services
  • Matching WM organics products and services with customer needs by demonstrating knowledge of customers, pricing and competition; effectively communicates pricing and service strategies; proactively engages other WM business opportunities, referring internally as appropriate
  • Drives pre-tax profits through innovative pricing and contracting strategies.
  • Develops comprehensive sales plan for assigned territory in conjunction with division sales plan and goals.
  • Demonstrates superior sales and organizational skills.
  • Communicates competitive and market information to management to assist in business unit planning and strategies.
  • Provides monthly sales reports, commissions and expenses on a timely basis.
  • Attends industrial sales meetings and training classes as deemed appropriate.\
  • Performs special projects and other tasks as assigned by the Industrial Sales Manager.

III. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. Must live and work in the US.

Education and Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or in lieu of degree, or High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience required.

Experience: 3 years of both inbound and outbound sales experience required (in addition to education requirement).

Preferred Experience: Working knowledge of composting, soil science, and organics recycling processes, familiarity with the various soil specification and familiarity with construction and landscaping project requirements (e.g., soil specs, LEED credits, erosion control).

The expected base pay range for this hybrid position is $83,710 - $101,420. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive pay.
