Job summary

Andersen is seeking a Senior Manager of Tax Transformation and Innovation—Indirect Tax Automation to lead end-to-end automation initiatives for tax determination engines. You will assess opportunities, evaluate vendors, and define implementation roadmaps across sales tax, VAT/GST, and excise domains.

The role requires deep tax technology expertise, strong vendor management, and cross-functional leadership to deliver high-quality advisory work and tangible ROI for clients in the tax space.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or related field.
• Advanced certifications preferred (CPA, PMP or vendor certifications).
• Minimum 8 years' experience in indirect tax and tax technology advisory.
• Expert knowledge of indirect tax (sales tax, VAT/GST, excise) compliance.
• Deep expertise in tax determination engine technology (Vertex/ONESOURCE/Avalara).
• Strong skills in evaluating tax engines and vendor solutions.
• Experience with tax rule configuration and system validation.
• Ability to map complex indirect tax scenarios to technology solutions.
• PM skills to coordinate cross-functional teams and ROI analyses.
• Strong communication for technical and business audiences.

Responsibilities

• Conduct indirect tax process assessment and identify automation opportunities across sales tax, VAT/GST, and related domains.
• Evaluate tax determination engine vendors to assess fit against client requirements and ERP setup.
• Lead vendor selection process including RFPs, demos, accuracy testing, and business case development.
• Perform capability assessment across vendors to recommend a fit for client tech strategies.
• Design tax engine implementation strategies covering data setup, configuration, and integration.
• Develop detailed requirements docs and technical specs for tax engine implementations.
• Create and manage implementation roadmaps with milestones and resources.
