Job summary

Andersen is seeking a Senior Manager of Tax Transformation and Innovation - Indirect Tax Automation in Seattle to lead tax automation initiatives, evaluate tax engines, and guide client engagements from RFP through implementation.

The role requires 8+ years in indirect tax, strong vendor assessment skills, and experience with leading cross-functional teams. This is a senior advisory position with competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
• Advanced certifications highly preferred including: CPA, PMP, or industry-specific vendor certifications.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in indirect tax, including tax engine implementations and tax technology advisory.
• Expert knowledge of indirect tax compliance and operations.
• Deep expertise in tax determination engine technology and capabilities (Vertex, ONESOURCE, Avalara, etc.).
• Strong technical assessment skills for evaluating tax engines and vendor solutions.
• Advanced tax rule configuration and system validation expertise.
• Ability to assess complex indirect tax scenarios and map requirements to technology solutions.
• Project management skills with ability to coordinate cross-functional teams.
• Business case development and ROI analysis capabilities.
• Strong communication skills for technical and business audiences.
• Ability to work effectively with clients and vendors throughout implementation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct indirect tax process assessment and identify automation opportunities across sales tax, VAT/GST, and related domains.
• Evaluate tax determination engine vendors (Vertex, Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE, Avalara, etc.) to assess fit against client requirements and ERP setups.
• Lead vendor selection process including RFP development, demonstrations, accuracy testing, and business case development.
• Design tax engine implementation strategies including data setup, configuration, system integration, and testing plans.
• Develop detailed requirements and technical specifications for tax engine implementation.
• Create and manage an implementation roadmap with milestones and resources.
