Job summary

Rea is a growing Top 100 business advisory and accounting firm. The SALT Consulting tax department supports multi-state sales and use tax, nexus studies, risk assessments, and tax software implementations for clients across the U.S.

The role balances high‑level consulting with hands‑on system configurations and exemption management. The successful candidate will have 4–5 years in state and local tax, CPA/CMI expectations, and hands‑on experience with Avalara and ERP platforms.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years’ experience in state and local tax consulting, specifically sales and use tax.
• Meeting education requirements for CPA certification or CMI in sales tax.
• Avalara CIP certification.
• Avalara, Vertex, implementation experience.
• Exemption Certificate Management Experience.
• Ecommerce and ERP experience (NetSuite, Microsoft Business Central, QBO, Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce).
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills.
• Experience integrating AI and emerging technologies into SALT workflows to improve project execution and client service.

Responsibilities

• Assist with nationwide nexus studies for sales tax, income tax, and other tax types.
• Assist with nationwide risk assessments quantifying exposure for sales tax, income tax, and other tax types.
• Assist clients with indirect tax engine evaluation and selection.
• Overseeing complex sales tax system implementations for clients with diverse ERP/Ecommerce platforms.
• Assist with voluntary disclosure projects.
• Prepare memoranda on state and local tax issues/taxability of products or services.
• Maintain active communication with clients – direct client interaction within your first week.
