Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior Manager, Indirect Tax to lead U.S. sales and use tax compliance, audits, and advisory work across multiple states for construction projects.

This role partners with Accounting, Legal, Procurement, Operations, and Project Management to manage risk and improve processes. The position offers remote or hybrid work with regular in-office presence in San Diego, CA, Broomfield, CO, or Portland, OR, and opportunities to shape tax strategy for growing infrastructure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Business, or related field.
• 15+ years of progressive tax experience, including significant U.S. sales and use tax exposure.
• Substantial indirect tax experience in construction, engineering, EPC, or infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of state/local tax principles: nexus, taxability, exemptions, resale, accruals.
• Solid tax research, documentation, and cross-functional advisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage U.S. sales and use tax compliance, returns, payments, and reporting.
• Lead reviews of tax returns and ensure timely filings with accurate calculations.
• Oversee use tax accruals and self-assessments where needed.
• Maintain documentation and controls for indirect tax compliance and reporting.
• Coordinate with external service providers for compliance activities.
• Escalate issues to the Indirect Tax Director as needed.
• Provide guidance on taxability, exemption certificates, and project-specific exemptions.
